From the second grade through graduation from McClatchy, Barry and I were near neighbors, best friends and partners-in-crime. Barry was funny and full of mischief, an original. He graduated from Chapman College and became a Social Worker for the City of San Francisco. He was also a very successful real estate investor: with his partner, Jerry Evans, he owned several small apartment buildings in the Bay Area and Alabama where Jerry was from. Barry was one of the earliest victims of the AIDS epidemic, passing away in 1984 barely a year after falling ill. At the end, he was surrounded by friends and his very supportive, loving family -- Jerry; father Norman and his second wife, Janet; sister Wendy and brother Denny and their respective families. None who knew him well will ever forget him - he made us laugh.
Barry was one of the funniest sweethearts I knew in high school, and I am saddened to hear you passed away so young, You had the greatest smile, and your laughter could fill a room! Rest peacefully buddy, I'll see you again.
