I knew John well in part because our older brothers were best friends when they were at McClatchy. John's family were Lebanese/Syrian Christians, and the Naify home right-off Land Park Drive was a gathering place for their boys' friends. After McClatchy, John joined the family business -- movie theaters and property development -- and had his own family. His early death was devastating to his close-knit family. He will be remembered as a great kid, fine son and loving husband and father.
